That is what Sabrina Anjara said, a PhD graduate of Cambridge University, as well as the first Gates Cambridge Scholar from Indonesia.
Sabrina shared tips to students who want to continue their education abroad in the seminar entitled “How to Get a Letter of Acceptance from the University of Cambridge?” in the World Top 250 Prestigious Universities Expo held by SUN Education Group in Mercure Alam Sutera Hotel, Tangerang on Saturday (6/5/2017).
“The first thing to prepare is a strong desire to work hard to get the university we dream of. Lots of people who want to go to their dream universities don’t want to work hard to meet the requirements, ” she said.
As with the Cambridge University admission requirements, Sabrina disclosed that most of the applying students didn’t properly prepare the university’s required registration requirements. For example, Sabrina mentioned that to apply at Cambridge University, students must have IB or A Levels score. Meanwhile, a lot of applicants from Indonesia don’t prepare these two things and they even register with the high school score, which is certainly not accepted by the University of Cambridge.
Therefore, the next important step is to meet what the university requirements. The key is to start paying attention to academic requirements, language requirements, and program or department requirements. Another important thing to be prepared is a personal statement. Sabrina emphasized in making a personal statement, the students also have to be serious and know what their passion is like.
Then, how to know our passion? “To know your passion, it depends on yourself, so we have to ask ourselves: in the next 30 years or 40 years, if I have to get up every day, do I feel bored or love with what I do? If the answer is bored, then it’s not your passion, ” Sabrina explained.
She reminded that those who want to apply for university must stay up-to-date with university deadlines in sending applications. Also, don’t forget to join and be proactive in student forums by looking at other students who are also similarly applying in similar majors.
