Double Degree for Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management

Double Degree for Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management at NZMA. The New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA) is a top higher education institution in New Zealand that offers numerous programs from Levels 2 to 7 in hospitality, cookery, business studies, contact centre operations, retail and construction.

Since July 2016, the academy has opened a new Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management (Level 7) program. The program is perfect for students who wish to enter the industry. This one-year Diploma will provide students with the required skills to work in management within the hotel and tourism industry.

Tourism and hotels are growing sectors in New Zealand and around the world at the moment. This diploma program is aimed to deliver comprehensive knowledge and training on leadership roles by providing students with a wide range of practical and analytical management skills. The program will provide acceleration to professional and management level for students that had completed Diploma in Applied Hospitality Management (Level 6) or another corresponding qualification in NZMA.

To qualify for the program, prospective students are required to have successfully completed a Level 6 Diploma in Hospitality, Hotel or Tourism Management or have the equivalent skills/experience, including minimum 1-2 years experience as a supervisor in a hotel or tourism environment. International students should meet the satisfactory completion of NZMA language standards: academic IELTS™ overall band of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any element. The academy offers four (4) intakes per year that students can choose to join this program: July, August, October, and November.

Students who are successfully completed NZMA’s Level 6 Diploma in Applied Hospitality Management and the Level 7 Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management will also be awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Events and Hotel Management from the Hotel and Tourism Management Institute (HTMi) in Switzerland.

The qualification is a huge accomplishment for NZMA. Acquiring a hotel management degree from Switzerland is considered to be the highest point of training in this sector. This will ensure the academy stays in the front line of hospitality training in New Zealand.

The academy’s Tourism and Hotel Management diploma program is the only Level 7 diploma program in New Zealand and is expected to be very popular. It covers subjects such as services marketing management, strategic management, tourism management, tourism for hotels, and leadership in the service industry. There are also opportunities to complete the program overseas.

The partnership with HTMi makes NZMA students have the option to undertake internship/work placement in Switzerland for the last phase of their degree. The development in the learning environment ranked the academy as a Category 1 provider on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) rating, the best rating for education providers.
