Bachelor in Banking and Financial (Hons) Program in APU. The Asia Pacific University of Technology and Information (APU) is a private university in Malaysia that provides various programs in the areas of information technology, media, business and engineering. The School of Accounting, Finance and Quantitative Studies at APU offers an undergraduate program for students who are interested in learning banking and finance.
The Bachelor in Banking and Finance (Hons) program is designed for students who plan to develop a career in the banking or financial services sector.
The main objective of the program is to develop students’ knowledge and capability so that they can acquire major positions in the financial services sector. In the program, students will be provided with the correct skills and knowledge to handle financial products, products development, and also to work within the global banking and finance industry. Students will have the opportunities to progress into highly competent managers/professionals and to develop skills in innovation, originality and integration as well as problem solving and decision making.
The courses in this program will give students the opportunity to study modules essential to the understanding of business management and finance. Students will also be given the knowledge of Financial Management, the Financial System, and Law of Banking and Finance to produce graduates with comprehensive capabilities and knowledge.
In the final year, students will learn about the globalization of banking and finance which includes the development of international banking and investment theory in global banking practices. The Banking and Finance program at APU includes an option for students to experience an industrial internship of a minimum of 12 weeks which will provide them with practical employment skills. This experience will give students opportunities to connect with real-world business problems.
The Bachelor in Banking and Finance (Hons) program can be completed in 3 years (6 semesters). There are four (4) intakes per year that students can choose to join this program: April, May, September, and November. To qualify for the program, international students should meet the satisfactory completion of APU language standards: IELTS™ overall band of 6.0 or a TOEFL® minimum score of 550. Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded with a Dual Degree from APU Malaysia and Staffordshire University, UK.
The Banking and Finance program at APU are accredited by The Financial Accreditation Agency (FAA). Recently, APU signs the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB). Under this memorandum, students with a CGPA of 3.0 and above will have the opportunity to attain professional membership with the Executive Banker certification awarded by AICB.
