5 Simple Tips to Speak English Fluently. Being fluent in English is not easy, especially for us who are used to speak bahasa Indonesia every day. Do not worry, our team of SUN English teachers has made a list of five (5) simple tips to help you learn how to master the English speaking techniques.

  1. Different Perspective

Stop having the thought that you are a person who learns English and start thinking that you are a person who speaks English.  This will boost your confidence and help you use English more effectively.

You also need to start thinking in English, for example, when you think of the word “meja” you will think about the English word for it. It is better to start thinking everything in English.

  1. Grammar is not Everything

Good grammar is necessary, but the grammar will confused you and making you unconfident when speaking in English. You will spend time thinking about the sentence structure rather than say it directly like a native speaker. Boost your confidence and start speaking and thinking in English.

  1. Learn and study phrases

Despite having lots of vocabularies, you also need to understand how to put those words into a proper sentence. If you know 1000 words, you might not be able to say one correct sentence. But if you know one (1) phrase, you could say many sentences correctly. So, learn more phrases and pronunciation.

  1. Don’t Translate

Indonesian and English grammar are different so when you translate a sentence from Indonesia to English word by word, it will not be a proper sentence. Similar to the third tips, learn more phrases and sentences so you do not need to translate the sentence you want to say.

  1. Practice speaking

Maybe you have read and listened to everything in English, but it will be useless if you do not practice your English speaking ability every day. Look for a friend who also want to practice their speaking skills or who is already fluent or a native speaker to be your speaking partner.

Boost your confidence when speaking in English. Ask your friend or tutor to occasionally correcting you so you know how to speak in English properly.
