University of Bristol

Each year the University awards up to 20 students with a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship of up to £3,000 per annum for at least the first three years of study.

The scholarship supports undergraduate students with an exceptional musical, dramatic or sporting talent, who are holding an academic offer and intending to start studying at the University of Bristol in the autumn of 2020.

Eligibility:

1. The scheme is open to students applying for a full-time undergraduate course at the University.

2. This is an entrance scholarship for new students applying to study at The University of Bristol. Continuing students are not eligible to apply.

3. The scheme is designed to attract students with exceptional abilities outside their normal field of study, therefore a Music student would not be eligible for a music scholarship, etc.

4. Liberal Arts students who follow the Film or Theatre subject pathways would not be eligible for a drama Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship.

5. Applicants must be able to demonstrate outstanding artistic, creative or sporting potential.

6. Awards will be made on a competitive basis but applicants will normally be expected to satisfy the following minimum criteria:
- Music/vocal awards: A minimum of Grade VIII in examinations offered by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (or equivalent). Please be aware that the awards are extremely competitive. Shortlisted candidates will normally demonstrate musical distinction that has been recognised at a regional or national level, for example (though not limited to) membership of national youth ensembles or county youth ensembles.

- Drama awards: Evidence of sustained extra-curricular engagement with theatre and/or filmmaking, along with distinguished achievement in relevant school subjects (e.g. theatre studies, film studies or other arts/humanities subjects).

- Sporting awards: Successful applicants will have had considerable success at representative level. It would be unusual for an award to be given to a student who had not had International honours, at least at Junior level. Although a student might apply for other scholarships the holder of a Vice-Chancellor’s award for sport must not hold other funded sporting grants.

Aviva wants to identify outstanding Asian students with ambitions, and support them in their pursuit of higher education in the UK by covering 20% of tuition fees through the Aviva Scholarship.

All three year undergraduate courses and all one year postgraduate courses will be covered by the scholarship.

Eligibility:

1. Submit UCAS or direct-to-university application.

2. The applicant should hold an Indonesian passport, and accordingly be classified as an overseas student in the UK.

3. The applicant, his/her parent, or his/her legal guardian, should be a current Aviva policyholder (the Sponsor), whose insurance policy is issued by PT ASTRA AVIVA LIFE in Indonesia.

4. The applicant or Sponsor’s insurance policy needs to be active at the time of application, and you will be required to provide your policy number on the application form.

5. The applicant or Sponsor’s insurance policy should be issued by the Aviva company in the same country as the applicant’s nationality.

6. All policies are eligible to apply.

7. Aviva’s employees, advisers, partners and their children are eligible as applicants as long as they are current Aviva policyholders in Indonesia.

8. Corporate customers (Group business) are required to have individual in-force policies to qualify.

9. Applicants will be evaluated based on achievement, aptitude, and potential; as demonstrated in their academic studies, extracurricular activities, careers, and other relevant areas.

This year, in partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of Bristol is offering one scholarship worth £10,000 to students in Indonesia applying for qualifying postgraduate courses.

Any one year, full-time Masters programme will be covered by the scholarship.

Eligibility:

- Be an applicant to any one year, full-time postgraduate programme at the University of Bristol.

- Start their postgraduate programme in September 2020.

- Be classed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes.

- Not already be in receipt of other funding which would equate to more than the full cost of tuition fees alongside a Bristol scholarship.
