New stipend, $15,000 per year (excludes student services fee and insurance);

- Fulltime study ($1,250 per month); $7,500
- Part-time study ($625 per month)

Eligibility:

1. In the case of applicants whose prior qualifications have been awarded by other universities, the University shall calculate a GPA score using what it considers to be the most relevant papers and grades provided on the applicant’s academic transcripts

2. Certificate of Proficiency and Pass/Fail papers will not be taken into account in the calculation

Eligibility:

• enrolling full-time in the first year of a coursework master’s degree which does not include a thesis option
• electing to choose the research report or dissertation option in a master’s degree which also allows a thesis option
• obtaining the first Otago Coursework Master's qualification
• domestic students or international students
• undertaking a Coursework Master's degree (degree by papers only, or, if a research component is included, the research paper should have a point value of less than 90 points)

*Notes:

- Coursework Master’s Scholarships are not available for the papers year of a two-year research Master’s degree.

- The tenure of the scholarship is for one year only.

- The scholarship must be taken up in the year for which it is awarded.

- Part-time study is not normally permitted.

- The scholarship may be held concurrently with other scholarships and awards.

- Applicants who have previously completed a coursework Master’s degree at the University of Otago will not normally be eligible for award of the scholarship.

- If the recipient withdraws from coursework Master’s study at the University of Otago during tenure of the scholarship, all payments will cease and no money will be refunded to the student.

• International students with an undergraduate degree in either Finance, Maths, Engineering, Physics or Economics, with grades equivalent to a NZ B+ average (GPA 3/4), and who meet the University of Otago's English Language requirements. 

• To be eligible to be awarded the scholarship, students must have an unconditional offer (including meeting English language requirements) by 5pm, 31 October 2019 (NZ time). Applicants may be offered the scholarship before 31 October, but if they have not met their conditions by this date, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn.

• Current international students at the University of Otago are eligible to apply.

• Students who have been awarded another University of Otago scholarship are not eligible to be awarded this scholarship
