Courses are developed in consultation with industry, and teaching staff have extensive industry experience and networks. ECU students can consequently expect placement opportunities, fieldwork, practicums and networking events as part of their studies. This approach has been rewarded with five-star ratings for teaching quality for seven years in a row in the Good Universities Guide. Very few universities have ever achieved this.

ECU has eight teaching schools that collectively deliver more than 300 diverse courses. This includes Schools of Engineering, Science, Education, Arts and Humanities, Business and Law, Medical and Health Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

ECU has more than 23,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students and welcome around 3,600 international students, originating from more than 100 countries. Courses are offered on three campuses: Joondalup and Mount Lawley in metropolitan Perth and the South West Campus at Bunbury, 200km south of the capital city.
