Stenden University, also known as Stenden University of Applied Sciences, is a practice-based university that prides itself on its international atmosphere. Established in 2008 as the result of a merger between CHN University Netherlands and Drenthe University, Stenden University has a communal vision of education which aims to expose students to their future professions. Students' learning is the central focus within the challenging work environment at Stenden University.

The international environment encompasses Stenden University as a whole, its campus sites abroad, its educational products, the opportunities it creates for its students, and the students themselves, shown by the 60 nationalities of roughly 10,000 students.
