The University of Amsterdam (Dutch: Universiteit van Amsterdam) or the UvA is a publicly funded research university located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Founded in 1632 by the scholars Gerardus Vossius and Caspar Barlaeus, the University of Amsterdam is the third-oldest university in the Netherlands. The UvA is one of Europe's largest research universities with nearly 30,000 students and 2,269 academic members of staff. It is the largest university in the Netherlands by enrollment.  It has produced six Nobel Laureates and five prime ministers of the Netherlands.
UvA is ranked 1st in the Netherlands, 15th in the Europe and 57th in the World by the QS World University Rankings 2016-2017. The university’s seven faculties of Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Economics and Business, Science, Law, Medicine, and Dentistry collectively offer over 200 programmes including the programme that has a joint degree with Universitet Aarhus Denemarken. Through international collaboration with other universities, the UvA offers exchange options with about 200 universities in Europe and 40 institutions outside of Europe and enrolls over 3,000 international students and researchers.
UvA’s Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB / Faculteit Economie en Bedrijfskunde) is a famous option amongst International students, especially for its master degree.  FEB was established in 1922. The FEB, which includes the Amsterdam School of Economics (ASE) and the Amsterdam Business School (ABS), currently has around 4,000 students and nearly 600 staff. The UvA has one of the largest selections of international Master's study programmes of any university in Europe, with over 130 taught in English and several entirely unique to the UvA.
Amsterdam is an ideal place for international students, since English is spoken nearly everywhere and it’s very easy to get around by public transport. The city of Amsterdam is always alive during the day and peaceful at night. The city that was first born in 13th century as a fishing village on a river bed is now a major hub for business, tourism, and culture. The city that is rich with preserved historical buildings is now home to more than 780,000 residents from 180 different countries.
The campus of the UvA is located primarily in the City Centre of Amsterdam. Indonesian students can take a flight from Jakarta to the Schiphol airport and continue with a shuttle bus ride provided by UvA.¬â€
