Being one of the largest universities in New Zealand, Massey University was established in 1927. Massey is the only university in New Zealand offering students degrees in aviation. Massey University is also famous for having numerous distant learners, which are 17,000 students, meaning that out of 35,000 students almost half prefer distance learning.
In terms of ranking, Massey University ranked 340th worldwide, according to the Quacquarelli Simons (QS) World University Rankings 2017. Massey has always been known for excellence in agricultural studies, as it was originally named Massey Agricultural College. Therefore, Massey deserves to be ranked 19th by QS on the University Subject Rankings list.
The university is made up of five colleges in total: College of Business, College of Health, College of Creative Arts, College of Sciences, and College of Humanities and Social Sciences. As mentioned earlier, however, students can prefer a different study mode, which is distance learning, enabling them to study from afar flexibly.
Massey has a campus in Manawatu, Albany, and Wellington. Facilities vary depending on which campus you study at. For instance, if you are a sports person, the recreation centre in Manawatu campus may attract you as you can play a variety of sports: badminton, squash, tennis, and basketball.
