Definisi Present Perfect Tense

Present Perfect adalah bentuk kalimat bahasa Inggris untuk menggambarkan tindakan yang telah selesai namun masih memiliki relevansi dengan saat ini. Kamu dapat menggunakan Present Perfect ketika ingin bercerita tentang pengalaman tanpa menyebutkan kapan tepatnya hal tersebut terjadi.

Selain itu present perfect tense juga berguna untuk menyatakan perubahan yang terjadi dari waktu ke waktu, seperti “Technology has changed our lives significantly.”

Struktur Present Perfect Tense

Formula dasar present perfect tense adalah Subject + have/has + past participle (verb 3). Untuk subjek I, you, we, they, kamu menggunakan “have”, sedangkan untuk subjek he, she, it, kamu menggunakan “has”. Misalnya: “I have finished my homework” atau “She has visited Jakarta.”

Dalam bentuk negatif, kamu tinggal menambahkan “not” setelah have/has menjadi “have not” atau “has not” yang sering kamu singkat sebagai “haven’t” dan “hasn’t”. Sementara itu, untuk membuat kalimat tanya, kamu cukup membalik posisi have/has dengan subjek, seperti “Have you ever been to Japan?” atau “Has he called you yet?”
