Domus Academy was founded in 1982 by the Mazzocchi family, owners of Editoriale Domus, which publishes Domus and Quattroruote magazines. Maria Grazia Mazzocchi was president of the school. Gianfranco Ferrâ was on the staff from 1983 to 1989, and Andrea Branzi was cultural director for the first ten years. In 2009 the school was bought by Laureate Education of Baltimore, Maryland for an estimated ten million euros
For over 30 years Domus Academy has been and continues to be one of the most prestigious and top-rated schools in Italy for postgraduate educational programmes in both design and fashion design. Azure Magazine has named Domus as one of the world eight top interior design schools for 2016. In addition, design publication company Frame Publishers has included Domus in its Masterclass guide to the 30 best graduate schools for four years in a row.
Students at Domus Academy have the opportunity to intern with some of the most exciting brands in fashion, product design, car design, interaction design, luxury goods, and more. They also can extend their visa to work in Italy for up to one year.
Domus Academy only offers Post Graduate programs in architecture, business, design, and fashion. Upon completion, the students will receive a degree recognized around Europe and the world which is an Academic Master Degree accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) in addition to the Domus Academy Master Diploma.
Domus offers the student to work in the state-of-the-art facilities which is the design laboratories. It provides the tools the students need to create great work: equipment for computer graphics, video editing, 3D and 3D modeling, sound design, print making, painting, and light design, tailoring, anda model-making. Besides, students also has the chance to study in Milan, the world capital of design.
