Curtin University was first known as the Western Australia Institute of Technology (WAIT). In 1987, it made its mark as the first university of technology in Western Australia and also the third university to establish there. The University is named after the 14th Prime Minister of Australia, John Curtin.
Curtin was awarded five-stars overall in the annual QS Stars university ratings per 2016. Curtin is ranked 306 by the latest QS World University Rankings. The University is also ranked in The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) as one of the top two percent of universities worldwide. What is more, Curtin has been named the highest ranking university in Australia for LGBTI equality for three years in a row from 2013 to 2015.
Curtin University of Technology is Western Australia's largest university with over 60,000 students, around one third of those are international students. As a university of technology, it is only right that Curtin offers a campus with fast wireless Internet access. All the classrooms are also equipped with the latest IT setups.
With nine campus locations including Perth, Sydney, Malaysia and Singapore, Curtin boasts a rich diversity of cultures and a commitment to international engagement. It offers a range of industry-aligned undergraduate and postgraduate courses in business, humanities, health, engineering and related sciences.
