Salah satu kunci untuk lancar berbahasa Inggris adalah mempelajari tensesnya, salah satunya past future perfect continuous tense. Dalam belajar tenses bahasa Inggris, kita tidak hanya membahas waktu sekarang, lampau, atau masa depan secara terpisah. Ada juga bentuk tense yang menggabungkan dua konsep waktu sekaligus untuk menjelaskan durasi suatu aktivitas sebelum titik waktu tertentu di masa lalu. Nah, sebelum masuk ke rumus dan contoh kalimatnya, yuk pahami dulu konsep dasar dari Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense agar kamu lebih mudah menggunakannya dengan tepat!

Past Future Continuous Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu aktivitas yang akan sedang berlangsung di masa depan, tetapi dilihat dari sudut pandang masa lalu. Past Future Continuous Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu aktivitas yang akan sedang berlangsung di masa depan, tetapi dilihat dari sudut pandang masa lalu.
Contohnya situasi yang cocok menggunakan tense ini adalah ketika seseorang berkata, “I would be working at 8 p.m.” — artinya, di masa lalu ia merencanakan bahwa pada pukul 8 malam (di waktu yang akan datang saat itu) ia akan sedang bekerja.
Digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa suatu kegiatan diperkirakan akan sudah berlangsung selama periode waktu tertentu sebelum titik waktu tertentu di masa depan (yang dilihat dari masa lalu).
Dipakai ketika seseorang di masa lalu merencanakan atau memperkirakan durasi sebuah aktivitas, tetapi belum tentu rencana tersebut benar-benar terjadi.
Sering muncul dalam kalimat tidak langsung untuk melaporkan pernyataan tentang durasi kegiatan yang akan sudah berlangsung.
Fokus utamanya pada proses dan durasi (how long), bukan hanya pada hasil akhirnya.
Digunakan untuk menggambarkan kegiatan yang akan terus berlangsung hingga titik waktu tertentu di masa depan (dari perspektif masa lalu).
Digunakan ketika di masa lalu seseorang memprediksi bahwa suatu aktivitas akan telah berlangsung selama periode tertentu.

Sebelum menggunakannya dalam kalimat, penting untuk memahami pola atau rumus dasar dari Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense supaya nggak keliru dalam penyusunannya.
S + would have been + V-ing
Digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa suatu aktivitas akan sudah berlangsung selama periode tertentu (dari sudut pandang masa lalu).
S + would not have been + V-ing
Menyatakan bahwa suatu aktivitas tidak akan sudah berlangsung selama periode tertentu.
Would + S + have been + V-ing?
Digunakan untuk menanyakan apakah suatu aktivitas akan sudah berlangsung dalam durasi tertentu.
