Established in 1956, MDIS is located in Stirling Road, Singapore. MDIS is an institution in the form of not-for-profit professional institute. Focusing on the enhancement and development of individuals is the mission of the institution. Degrees in some programs offered are awarded by university partners.

In terms of accreditation, MDIS has been awarded a 4-year EduTrust certification in 2010 by the Council for Private Education. By 2014, the certification was renewed for another 4 years. This institution in partnership with several universities: the University of Sunderland, the University of Bradford, Southern Cross University, Grenoble Graduate School of Business and Nottingham Trent University.

MDIS offers you bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, diplomas, and certification. The institution is made up of eight schools that are in the areas of study: Business, Engineering, Fashion and Design, Life Sciences, Media and Communications, Technology and E-Learning, Tourism and Hospitality, and Languages.

The campus building is situated on Stirling Road, equipped with an ampitheatre where art performances and other events are usually held. For those who love sports, worry not since a gymnasium will cater to all your sporting needs. What is more, there is a hospitality training centre for those who study hospitality.

MDIS is built on a 3-hectare area, hosting a total of 72 lecture rooms, 6 lecture theatres, 5 computer labs, 4 life sciences labs, and 2 engineering workshops. Other supporting facilities include auditorium, library, fashion studio, radio studio, and TV studio, 24-hour convenience store, book shop, and food court. Besides, MDIS has a learning centre situated in Dhoby Ghaut. MDIS is the only few institutions in Singapore that has its own furnished student accomodation, located conveniently next to the Stirling campus.
